The CESA 6 Literacy Center is thrilled to offer a learning opportunity for new and veteran instructional coaches focused on Instructional Coaching for Impact. This Academy has been designed for school districts and/or individual schools at all levels of implementation and use of an instructional coaching framework.
Coaching is an essential component of an effective professional development program. It allows teachers to apply their learning more deeply, frequently, and consistently than teachers working alone. Coaching supports teachers to improve their capacity to reflect and apply their learning to their work with students and also in their work with each other.
This opportunity is specifically designed for Literacy Coaches and Literacy Leaders K-12. Join us to network and to stay up to date on the latest information, tools, and resources to make literacy coaching highly effective and impactful. New 1st and 2nd year Literacy Coaches! Join our afternoon sessions for personalized, individual mentoring with a Literacy Center Consultant.
Each year, the CESA 6 4K Literacy Collaborative will focus on one or more high-leverage practice(s) that can be incorporated within the 4K classroom and is rooted in brain research that supports the science of reading with our youngest learners. Participants may elect to join one or both "pathways" or focus of learning.
Aligned with science of reading research, the CESA 6 Literacy Center’s Structured Literacy Interventions Academy will increase system processes, decision making, and the use of targeted and responsive literacy interventions within your multi-level systems of support (MLSS).
Are you seeing growth in your writers in kindergarten through 5th grade? With so much time devoted to reading development, we often lose sight of our students’ writing development. We must intertwine reading and writing development in our students. Goals are set for the classroom, but each writer develops differently and needs purposeful, responsive teaching. Hone your skills for designing and planning small group instruction based on the skills and strategies that match each individual student writer. Through professional learning sessions, planning support for small groups based on student writing samples, and in-classroom demonstrations this in-district support is your solution to cultivating strong writers.
Professional learning coupled with Literacy Center coaching will develop the knowledge, instructional routines, and actionable ways to strengthen the thinking strategies of struggling readers in middle and high school. Using research-based tools and resources, let's turn secondary struggling readers into striving readers!
What happens when you ask your middle and high school students to read a portion of a text independently? Are you frustrated because students either refuse or can’t read the text? Do you feel concerned about the type of writing students do in your classroom? How about their use of academic language in small group discussions and partner work? Teachers and administrators, join us to receive strategies, resources, and the foundational knowledge needed to raise the level of literacy tasks in every content area and impact student achievement.
The CESA 6 Literacy Center will guide and support school district teams through a structured process to review curriculum resources ensuring high-impact literacy instruction in all classrooms.
In 2020, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) adopted the New Wisconsin Standards for English Language Arts (ELA). With this new adoption, ELA curriculums in school districts need to be reviewed and re-aligned to the new standards. Through in-district consulting, the CESA 6 Literacy Center will provide the support and professional learning needed to guide the district administrative and teaching staff through a review and realignment process following the Professional Learning Community model.
