Through eight self-paced learning modules rooted in Science of Reading research, this product is designed to provide administrators, other Literacy leaders, and teachers with what they need to develop a deeper understanding of how students learn to read (for both typical and atypical readers). Included within the modules, Educators will examine evidence-based, best instructional practices for teaching foundational literacy skills. Further, the Literacy Center will assist administrators and other Literacy leaders to reflect on and plan for the district systems that need to be in place to support the roll-down of the learning, tools, and practices into classrooms.
How does a writer develop? What are the instructional routines aligned to the science of reading research? Teaching writing is not a simple task, but rather very complex and powerfully dynamic. Throughout the year take a deep dive with us as we explore how a writer develops and the instructional routines that support that development. Join us as we explore the writing skills connected to the simple view of reading needed in language comprehension and word recognition routines to help develop our youngest writers.
Aligned with science of reading research, the CESA 6 Literacy Center’s Structured Literacy Interventions Academy will increase system processes, decision-making, and the use of targeted and responsive literacy interventions within your multi-level systems of support (MLSS).
This institute provides administrators, Literacy leaders, and teachers with knowledge, tools, resources, and materials that are rooted in Science of Reading research. Participants will explore actionable ways to identify struggling readers and the barriers that are keeping them from reading successfully. Through a hybrid model of learning sessions and “in your building”coaching and support, participants will develop routines and instructional practices that will help secondary struggling readers grow. The routines and instructional practices will be implemented in classrooms with guidance and support.
