Structure/Schedule

Year 1:

Focus on science-aligned literacy practices at the secondary level and identifying current state.

  • Three (3) in-person Learning Sessions
  • Two (2) in-district customized coaching days

Year 2:

Focus on strengthening collection of instruction data and maximizing high impact instructional practices.

  • Two (2) in-person Learning Sessions
  • Two (2) in-district customized coaching days

Outcomes/Deliverables

Effective Literacy Practices: Build understanding of impactful literacy practices, supported by brain research, with a focus on grades 6-12 and how leaders can leverage instructional knowledge through strategic actions.

Assessment and Data Systems: Explore components of effective reading assessments, including formative assessments, and the role of data systems in literacy improvement.

Strategic Planning and Implementation: Examine considerations for strategic planning, including district tools, routines, and actions that support successful change and plan implementation.

Leadership and Change Management: Develop an understanding of complex change, high-leverage leadership actions, and tools for monitoring and sustaining implementation success.

Collaborative Action: Work as a district team to synthesize understanding, share insights on implementation success, and build actionable steps for literacy improvement.
