Title IIC (Carl Perkins Grant Consortium)

Overview

The CESA 6 Career and Technical Education Coordinator provides consortia with assistance in planning, purchasing, monitoring, evaluation and grant fiscal management. The purpose of Federal Carl Perkins funding is to provide individuals with the academic and technical skills needed to succeed in a knowledge- and skills-based economy. Perkins promotes college and career readiness in grades 7-12 by preparing students both for postsecondary education and the careers of their choice. These Federal resources help ensure that career and technical programs are academically rigorous and up-to-date with the needs of business and industry.

Types of Activities Supported

Activities for State and Local Funds
 

  • Serving as a catalyst for change by driving program improvement
  • Developing a strong accountability system that ensures quality and results
  • Strengthening the integration of academic and career and technical education
  • Ensuring access to career and technical education for special populations, including students with disabilities
  • Developing and improving curricula
  • Purchasing equipment to ensure that the classrooms have the latest technology
  • Providing career guidance and academic counseling services
  • Providing professional development and technical assistance for teachers, counselors and administrators
  • Supporting career and technical education student organizations


Focuses for CTE/LVEC Consultant
 

  • Academic and career planning
  • Communicates and maintains working relationship with community and state agencies and area businesses, industries and labor organizations.
  • Carl Perkins Grant creation and submission of all necessary documentation
  • Monitoring budgets and assisting with purchasing
  • Assistance with required reporting (graduate follow-up and CTEERS end-of-year reports)
  • Development of programs of study
  • Facilitating CTE team meetings
  • Provides support to CTE teachers and personnel within the local consortium schools
  • Equity and Education for Employment compliance
  • Assistance with Career Pathway Development
