Safe & Healthy Schools/Communities Network

Overview

The Safe and Healthy Schools and Communities Network is a training and technical assistance center for mental health, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, suicide prevention, crisis planning and school safety planning. The network provides a variety of trainings and technical assistance on a fee basis to schools and communities throughout the CESA 6 region.

How We Can Help

The quarterly network will provide opportunities to meet and interact with other Safe Schools Coordinators and share experiences, ideas and best practice in all areas of youth at risk. Participants will also receive the monthly newsletter Helping Hand (monthly newsletter still provided?) providing timely information for parents and school staff on a broad range of issues related to youth.

Network objectives:

  • Provide opportunities for networking around safe and healthy schools and communities programs, policies, procedures and processes
  • Enhance professional development of leaders in the safe and healthy schools and communities field
  • Keep the leaders in the field appraised of current trends, legal issues, prevention strategies and topics of interest
  • Build capacity to create safe and healthy schools and communities
