CESA 6 Instructional Services provides leadership in teacher certification through an alternative route. Adults seeking a career change in order to become teachers are afforded that opportunity in the content areas of science, math, technology education, foreign language, special education, art, music, and ESL.

  • Add-on to current special education license with our 6-month program is $3,500 (effective May 1, 2013)
  • Current teachers may extend his/her current teaching license with our 1-year program at $7,000 (effective May 1, 2013)
  • Earn your initial teaching license in our 2-year program at $10,000 (maximum time and cost)
  • Dependent on experience


The Residency In Teacher Education (RITE) is an “on-the-job” program. The formal instruction will occur prior to, during, and after the school year. Participants will learn, in part, about best instructional practices, assessing student progress, classroom management, and other instructional strategies. Additionally, during both years in the classroom, mentors in districts and at CESA 6 will provide on-the-job support.
