Job Description: CESA 6 is seeking to employ a full-time itinerant Teacher of the Blind/Visually Impaired to provide itinerant vision services to students with visual impairments in the northern-central school districts of the CESA 6 region. Responsibilities include conducting student evaluations, development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs, providing direct instruction to students, consultation with school personnel and parents, and participating in professional development opportunities.
Other essential skills include effectively communicating with children of all ages as well as with adults, ability to maintain records, ability to manage time and schedule accurately, and ability to maintain student confidentiality. This position allows for collaboration with other Teachers of the Blind/Visually Impaired, working in schools for support and professional development opportunities.
Requirements: Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification in Visual Impairment - code: 825, or eligibility to obtain this license, is required. Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification as Orientation and Mobility Specialist - code: 826, would be beneficial but not required. This position is itinerant, so the individual hired must have their own transportation, a valid driver's license and be able to drive between school districts. Strong communication skills are necessary.
